How to choose the right chew for your dog

The best chew is one that suits the dog in front of you. Age, tooth condition, body size and chewing enthusiasm all matter more than the colour of the packet.
Choose a chew larger than your dog can swallow whole, supervise every session and remove small end pieces. Puppies and senior dogs generally need gentler textures, while experienced adult chewers may enjoy firmer options.
Ingredients matter too. Single-protein products make it easier to manage sensitivities, while dental shapes can complement—never replace—regular brushing and veterinary care.
Dr Chewee’s safety note: Always supervise chewing, choose an appropriate size and replace any chew that becomes small enough to swallow. Ask your veterinarian about individual dental or dietary needs.
